We're hoping that by the time your PACT underwear is well-worn and you're ready to get rid of it, we'll have figured out a way to recycle it. We are constantly searching for innovative ideas about how to best accomplish the cradle-to-cradle goal and move away from the idea of consuming and then discarding.

Sustainability is a dynamic process and we are trying our best to consider every impact our underwear has on the planet and its inhabitants.

When people protested Communist regimes in Eastern Europe, the large majority of them did not ask for capitalism. They wanted the freedom to live their lives outside state control, to come together and talk as they pleased; they wanted a life of simplicity and sincerity, liberated from the primitive ideological indoctrination and the prevailing cynical hypocrisy.

As many commentators observed, the ideals that led the protesters were to a large extent taken from the ruling Socialist ideology itself — people aspired to something that can most appropriately be designated as “Socialism with a human face.” Perhaps this attitude deserves a second chance.

Als mythische Gesellschaft verstand Claude Lévi-Strauss durchaus auch die aufgeklärte Gegenwart, die ihm in vielem fremder war als frühere Jahrhunderte. So weit wie möglich entzog er sich ihren Zwängen und Ehrungen. An irgendeinen Fortschritt glaubte er nicht, auch nicht an ein Jenseits.

Cohen died a couple of years ago, and I wonder what he would have made of the rise of Social Networks like Facebook, Twitter etc. Personally, I think he’d have been really interested in the potential that they have, and I wonder if he, as I did, would have mulled on that quote and wondered if actually socialism might become more realised with the improved social technologies that we increasingly have available.
